A Healing Miracle 100 years ago, to fly would have seemed a miracle. Penicillin wasn't discovered until the 20th century and was considered a magic bullet; a miracle. My father-in-law's heart by-pass surgery certainly seemed like a miracle. It is said that "a miracle is something you do not yet know how to do". The real miracle is that you are alive. Your body exchanges about 10 trillion molecules every month and performs 1 million chemical reactions every second; but you aren't doing it. Infinite God is sustaining and building your body every second. Those of you who have taken the Ayurveda course know that there are subtle physical laws you must follow for God to be able to properly build your body and these laws are different for each person depending on their body type. God works through the gross physical laws with which we are all familiar, like gravity. He works through the subtle physical laws governing the forces that build our bodies, and of course God does the healing when healing occurs. You are going to learn a healing technique that as of this moment seems like a miracle. From that point on, when you place your hands on someone, healing energy is going to flow through you and the healing process in that person will be sped up. As a child, every time I passed a sick person, I wanted to place my hands on them like Jesus did and heal them. In the mid 1800's, a method was revealed to Dr. Mikao Usui that does just that. Now, when I lay my hands on a sick person, I can contribute to the healing process. In Matthew 8:5-8, when the Centurion came to Jesus and asked that his servant be cured, he told Jesus that it was unnecessary for Jesus to come. "Just say the word, and my servant will be healed", and it was so. When you take Reiki II, you will be taught a technique that will heal from a distance. Jesus healed the insane man living on the edge of the town. Also in Reiki II is a technique for mental healing. To whom did Jesus always give the credit for healing? God. God's healing energy flowed through Him. So how are Jesus' healings different from what you and I are going to be able to do? They are as different as you and I are from Jesus. His healings were instantaneous; the healings you participate in may take longer. We are still subject to the ego. We get irritated and angry. We feel fear and worry. When someone does something to us, we may want to strike back. God has given us a tool for healing that we mortals can use safely to help ourselves and our loved ones heal at an accelerated rate. They won't be instantaneous., but immediately, the healing energy will provide easing of discomfort to the patient. The point I'm trying to make is that though we won't be making instantaneous healings like Jesus, the mechanism is the same. The difference is a matter of degree. Jesus said, “you, too, are Sons of God and greater things than these will you do”. So in summary, you won’t be doing the healing, God will. God's healing energy will be flowing through you and infinite God will be doing the work. Perhaps, when you are able to fast in the desert for 40 days and nights and resist all manner of temptation; when you can be scourged, nailed to a cross and a spear driven into your side and still be able to forgive those who do it with unconditional love; when you can stand on the high tower and forgive Usama Ben Ladin as an airplane crashes into it killing you and all in it; then maybe someday when an old woman touches the hem of your garment, she'll be healed. Until that time, let's get about God's business of healing people with the gift He has revealed to us. You are an energy being and energy directed by God sustains you. We'll give descriptions of how this energy in your body works. Words are inadequate, but we'll do our best. Luckily with Reiki, you don't have to understand it for it to work. It is said that a miracle is something that you do not yet know how to do. After the class, you will know how to do Reiki, but it will still seem like a miracle.
